Blizzard Number Two

Is rolling in!  I honestly have never seen this much snow in my entire life, and who knows if I ever will again.

We're to get 18 more inches by the time it's done.  This is on top of the two feet we have already ;)

I was able to get out of the house and go to a conference that was being held in town today and yesterday, even though my office was officially closed.  Tomorrow is Day 3 of the federal government being shut down (trust me, this does NOT happen) and so it's Day 3 of me being off work as well.

I decided to just embrace it, since I know I will never see this again.  It'll melt, the seasons will change and I'll be wishing for the time when my only decision for the day was which movie to watch next.  It's mandated downtime and I'm going to enjoy it if it kills me.

But oh, here's something funny--the news is running a little tidbit during every segment about how "feelings of depression and/or "cabin fever" are normal".  It's urging us to do things we wouldn't "normally do" like say, our taxes!  Or cleaning out the garage!  Reading new books!

But feelings of sadness and isolation are to be expected, they say.  So I guess I'm not the only one going a bit nuts, but I'm back to feeling much, much better and praying for the electricity to stay on as I watch more and more snow fall....

I gotta admit.  It is beautiful.

Even the Obama's are snug.

Wow. It IS pretty. I am thinking of the White House garden. I doubt they are getting much out of THAT right now. But perhaps they have a greenhouse.
Enjoy your downtime. But hey- don't do your damn taxes.

Taxes, schmaxes-bundle up and go outsied. that is totally what I would do, anyway!

Taxes??? That would depress me more than anything else! No, no don't do those. Build a snowman instead, go to a movie or a cafe for hot chocolate, and read.
Beautiful photos!!

Miss Angie, I can't even walk past my front door :) Everything in this whole city is shut down! We've got a hell of a blizzard roaring out there.

I am reading lots of books though, and drinking hot tea. No taxes for me!!

You know what Ms Moon, I actually thought about the white house garden too. Funny!

Great attitude SJ. That's funny how the news is trying to give pep talks, don't go crazy folks, it's only cabin fever!
You're right, we always wish for days on end of doing nothing and when we get them we go a bit mad.
Glad you're drinking tea and reading and watching films and just letting yourself BE.
Gorgeous photos.
I'm so out of the loop,
is it over now?

Thanks for all the blog love lately. Love your comments. You always make me smile.

SJ: I go into a sort of fugue state after Christmas, because of the cold. It started earlier this time because of that big December snow. My brain just, well, freezes up. Which is the long way of explaining that I didn't even know you were here. I thought that was still in the works. As I said, mind and body, frozen.

I am just over the 14th Street bridge, in VA. If I can get out tomorrow, I am Alabama bound, but back next week.

Let me take you to tea.
